Anti Aging Medicine

Managing the aging process is a proactive healthcare approach designed to help you achieve and maintain optimal health throughout the span of your life.

Age management medicine provides an individualized plan for your healthcare based on extensive evaluation of your health history, current lifestyle and complete physical assessment.

Using this information as a baseline, Dr. Waller will develop treatment options for existing conditions and preventative strategies to achieve the following major goals:

  • Optimize your health and quality of life through lifestyle change
  • Prevent or delay onset of age related illness and disease
  • Treat chronic medical conditions using a functional medicine approach
  • Help you look and feel better regardless of chronological age

Age management medicine incorporates the following components:

Preventative Medicine: Early intervention can prevent medical conditions and risk factors implicated in age-related or degenerative illness from escalating to the point that treatment is more difficult. This proactive approach exemplifies the concept of health care as opposed to illness care practiced in a traditional medical model.

Lifestyle Modification: In many cases, our habits today dictate the state of our health tomorrow. Lifestyle modification addresses the behavioral aspects of our life to reduce or eliminate behaviors that pose a risk to future health and develop new behaviors to enhance wellbeing.

Nutrition and Dietary supplements: The relationship between nutrition, health, and a variety of diseases is well established. Individualized nutrition plans focus on first establishing strategies for achieving and maintaining optimal weight while stabilizing glycemic (blood sugar) load and inhibiting inflammatory responses.  Inflammation is implicated in a variety of diseases such as cancer, dementia, heart attacks and strokes.  Dr. Waller will assess your nutrition status and make specific recommendations for dietary adjustment including incorporating both macro and micro nutrients into your diet.

Stress management:  Stress related illness has unnecessarily become an accepted part of modern life for many people. The negative effects of stress on hormone levels and the physiological processes in our bodies are well researched as are the positive effects achieved through stress reduction programs.

Bioidentical hormone therapies: Beginning in our mid-thirties, certain body hormone levels begin to decline. Declining hormone levels are associated with a wide range of symptoms and a change in various body functions that frequently affect our quality of life. Declining hormones also contribute to developing certain diseases. Hormones such as estrogens, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA, growth hormone, melatonin and thyroid hormones decline as we age and lead to conditions that may be corrected by adjusting hormone levels using natural equivalents to human hormones.
